About Kyalami Farms
The History of Kyalami goes back several decades To Neville and Gayle Aitken. Gayle Aitken however began training and breeding of Morgan horses when she was in her 20s.. Her Mom and she started Colony Morgans in the early 70s and bred and owned many World champion Morgan horses and ran a wonderful breeding program. many national champion and regional champion horses made their home at Colony Morgans. To name a few.
The great world renowned Waseeka Peter Piper ... Mantic Emperor ... Colony Venture Pride ... Shawalla Patriot and Colony Son o Thunder.. Gayle went on as Kyalami after her mom Gwen retired from the breeding business. Gayle raised up Mantic Emperor whom she purchased from Joan and Rollie Bowers of Morgan Manor ... She went on to purchase Mantic Empyrean also a full brother both as weanlings. Mantic Emperor went on to be a top show horse in halter and park harness divisions and became one of the top producers on the west coast as a stallion.. world champion and national champion get were to come.
Mantic Empyrean won on the local and regional level in halter and went on to show as a gelding with Gayles daughter Alena Rae and won throughout his show career many top ribbons regionally and nationallykll. Alena also took Mantic Emperors son Kyalami General Patton and showed him to top ribbon honors at the local regional and national levels with several wins in park saddle and in hand stallions.
After Gayles retirement as a trainer Alena took up shop in Tennessee and continues her mother and stepfathers business there.. Alena is a well known country music singer and writer who has also appeared in several tv shows and is breaking into the movie and film business.. Her passion and heart remains with her childhood and the horses and her dream is to keep her mothers dream of the perfect Morgan horse alive.. Alena also has some beautiful Arabian horses and trains and presents for other horse owners and has had several students go onto the national level in English Hunter and Western divisions.
At Kyalami the dream is to keep the beautiful Morgan horse going strong and to remember the love of the horse first before anything else
